Girl Scout Cookies

Girl Scout Cookies has been all the rage, and anyone that has tried it knows why. No, I’m not talking about the kind that you buy from the neighborhood girls and eat as a snack. These Girl Scout Cookies are more on the dank side, but as their namesake suggests, they taste a lot like the Girl Scout Cookies you’re probably familiar with.

The Herb

This strain is a hybrid of OG Kush and Durban Poison. One of the strain’s most interesting features is that there are a number of different phenotypes, including Platinum, Thin Mint, and Lemon. It is a short plant and fairly difficult to grow, but that has not stopped it from dominating dispensaries across the country. It has low yield and high demand, and as soon as you see its sexy silver crystals, you will understand why.

Taste & Smell

Girl Scout Cookies, like most really good strains, has a really strong aroma. Both the nug and the concentrate smell more pungent than many other strains. The taste is actually quite complex. First, it tastes pungent and earthy, but then there is a sweet note at the very end. I highly suggest trying both the concentrate and the herb so you can experience the different flavors if you are going to give GSC a try.

Psychoactive Properties

Anti-Anxiety

GSC will make you feel entirely stress-free with just a few hits. The strain is strong enough for you to not need much and it will cure you of any stress you’ve been feeling. I was in the middle of moving and Christmas when I was lucky enough to smoke it for the third or fourth time. I thought my stress was incurable, but Girl Scout Cookies did the trick.

Euphoria

This is easily the most obvious property of Girl Scout Cookies. The combination of the indica and the sativa will give you a really wonderful body high along with just the right amount of alertness, putting you in the perfect, euphoric state.

Creativity

Because it makes you extremely alert and stress-free, Girl Scout Cookies promotes creativity in the best way. I am able to write, paint, or work on whatever art project I have in front of me. I feel just the right amount of awake and happy to feel driven to work on creative projects, and this is a common side effect for most people.

What it Treats

Depression/Anxiety

Since this strain has anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties, it can effectively treat both chronic and short-term anxiety and depression. It will keep you alert enough to wake up and get something done during the day, but it will relax you enough to make you feel less sad and/or stressed out. I highly recommend it if you suffer from either of these horrific mental illnesses.

Pain

The indica part of this hybrid kicks pain fantastically. I suffer from chronic back pain, so I was very excited when I found I could stay awake and get my work done but still be pain-free with GSC. This is one of my favorite strains to combat my back pain while I work or run errands.

Lack of Appetite

If you suffer from a mental or physical illness that suppresses your appetite, Girl Scout Cookies could be for you. It gives me the worst munchies ever, so it most certainly will help you eat.

The Cons

Hunger

While this may be a positive for some, it can be a bad thing if you’re watching your weight or trying to manage your cholesterol. Keep some celery or carrot sticks nearby so you have something healthy to munch on to curb those pesky cravings.

Paranoia

While very few strains cause me to feel paranoid, GSC is one of them that does. This is particularly true for the Thin Mints phenotype. If paranoia is something that you struggle with, I would recommend treading carefully with this strain. It is extremely potent and if this side effect manifests, you may not have an enjoyable high.

Dry Eye

Dry eye is not something that happens to me very often, but GSC makes my eyes quite dry. Pick up the eye drops of your choice before you smoke this strain.

Dry Mouth

I definitely suggest getting some hard candy to suck on to combat the cottonmouth you will feel if you smoke Girl Scout Cookies. I rarely get dry mouth anymore, so if you get it often, it will probably be even worse for you. While it is worth it, be prepared to be in search of your own saliva.

Would I Smoke It Again?

I have smoked Girl Scout Cookies a number of times and I would be happy to try it again. I’ve tried most of the phenotypes and I have enjoyed them all. The combination of the head and body high make GSC a great for me, because I can get things done but stay pain-free and stress-free. I highly recommend it and I would rate it a 4.7/5.
