Blue Dream

Blue Dream

Blue Dream is a pretty popular hybrid strain across the United States. Its deep blue color is like something out of a dream, as suggested by its name. This hybrid takes on more sativa-like properties, which was the perfect way to start my morning.

The concentrate, unlike the deep blue herb, is actually quite light in color. The blonde looked almost like honey. It was so pretty it had me salivating. After I smoked it, I realized that I had come across a very special strain.

The Herb

Blue Dream is a combination of Blueberry, which is a legendary indica and Haze, which is a sativa. It takes on a blue color, much like the indica from which it derives. The rich, blue velvet color is what sets Blue Dream apart from a lot of other hybrids, along with its crystal-laiden nugs and broad, yet long leaves.

Taste & Smell

Blue Dream’s taste and smell are similar. There is a sweet smell with blueberry notes, and when you smoke it, it tastes of blueberry and candy. The sweet taste has a bit of a lingering note, but it takes on a sharp sweet and sour flavor if you pair it with a nice white wine, which is what I did. I highly recommend it to experience the depth of flavor that this strain has to offer.

Psychoactive Properties

If you have anxiety, Blue Dream will wipe it away with just a hit or two. It takes the positives from a sativa and the positives of an indica and puts them together for you to land into a fluffy cloud of bliss.

Blue Dream is an exceptionally “happy” strain, which is wonderful for anyone that suffers from depression. While the indica creates a body high, the sativa opens the mind and keeps you alert. The combination of the two results in a rather joyful experience.

Are you the artistic type? If so, take a few tokes of some Blue Dream before you work on whatever your art may be, whether it’s painting, writing, music, or crafting. The sativa will help your brain stay focused enough to maintain your creativity, but the body high from the indica is so blissful that it takes away all of those little “creative insecurities.”

The munchies are real with this one. This strain made me eat nearly everything in my cupboard, so be prepared for that.

What it Treats

Blue Dream has anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties. The combination of the body and head high are the perfect cure if you suffer from chronic anxiety and depression. Just a few tokes and you will be up off the couch in no time!

If you suffer from chronic pain that you need to treat, but you also still need to stay awake, Blue Dream is probably the right strain for you, at least for daytime use. While the Blueberry works to combat your pain, the Haze counterpart will keep you alert.

Lack of Appetite

If you have a hard time eating due to a mental or physical illness, Blue Dream may be able to help you get some much-needed nutrients into your body.

The Cons

Dry Eyes

Like many strains, Blue Dream will leave your eyes a bit dry and bloodshot. That being said, I would not say that Blue Dream is worse than the average strain for this side effect.

Dry Mouth

Cottonmouth is a common complaint when it comes to smoking cannabis, but Blue Dream gave me some of the worst cottonmouth I’ve ever had. Get some sucking candy or something to relieve yourself of that symptom.

While this may be a positive thing for you if you suffer from a lack of appetite, it can be a bad thing if you’re watching your weight or your caloric intake. Get some celery or carrot sticks so you can munch on something healthy.

Would I Smoke it Again?

I would use Blue Dream again, and I plan on it. I have used it several times in the past and I have found it helps me become just the right amount of alert and pain-free. I would give this particular strain a 4.4/5 because it helped get my creativity flowing, but it also rid me of my chronic back pain. Usually, I have to trade one for the other, so Blue Dream is really a dream come true.
