High Tops

I had never heard of High Tops before I stepped into Green Dragon in Edgewater, Colorado, but it was one of the few strains of PHO that they had. There were no reviews that I could find online, but I decided to try it anyway. Now, I can share my experience with you.

The Concentrate

While I have yet to try the herb form of High Tops, I was able to get my hands on the concentrate, which has a fluffy, waxy texture. Since this is a new strain, we do not have a lot of official information about it yet.

Taste & Smell

This strain tastes of citrus with earthy undertones. It is quite light, tasting mostly of soft lemon and Mandarin orange. The concentrate does not smell strongly like some concentrates do. When smoked, it has a hint of sandalwood with accompanying earthy notes.

Psychoactive Properties

The strong head high that this strain induces is perfect for those struggling with anxiety.

Happiness comes quickly with this “straight-to-the-dome” strain.

Head Rush

The head rush that you will feel from this strain happens almost immediately. While this is typical of most concentrates, I am a regular concentrate user and I would consider it one of the fastest-acting concentrates I have had in awhile.

High Tops made me quite chatty when I used it, making it the perfect hybrid-like strain for social situations. If you are lucky enough to find the herb (I couldn’t find it anywhere!) it would be great to share with friends. The concentrate is wonderful if you are preparing for a night of socializing.

This strain offers a burst of creativity perfect for any artist, whether your art is music, words, canvas, or paper and pencil.

Pain Relief

There are some indica-like properties, though those properties take a little longer to kick in than the instantaneous head rush. Among those properties is pain relief, so this is a great strain for people that have daytime pain.

What it Treats

Suffers of anxiety, depression, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder will find that this strain can help. Use with caution, because the head rush may be a little dizzying at first, especially if you suffer from anxiety-related dizziness.

If you are looking for something for daytime pain relief, High Tops is perfect for you. It will allow you to stay alert, while curing you of any chronic pain you may be experiencing.

While many strains cure you of body pain but not head pain, High Tops will cure you of both. The headband that this strain creates is enough to cure anyone of even their worst migraine symptoms.

Since this strain is likely to make you feel awake and alert, it is good to use if you often experience daytime fatigue. Think of it as a concentrated bit of coffee!

Loss of Appetite

If you or someone you love struggles from a loss of appetite, this would be a great strain to treat it.

The Cons

Dry Mouth

Dry mouth seemed to occur in both myself and my significant other when we used this strain.

Dry Eyes

Dry eyes can be uncomfortable but easily fixed with eye drops.

Would I Smoke it Again?

I would definitely smoke High Tops again. From its earthy-yet-citrusy flavor to its impressively long list of psychoactive effects, High Tops is a great strain. While I am not sure exactly what it is identified as, it felt mostly like a hybrid to me, as a veteran cannabis user. I would give it a 4.7/5.
