Green Crack

I run into a lot of great hybrids and indicas, but it’s rare that I really fall in love with a sativa. They tend to make me paranoid, they don’t rid me of my chronic back pain, and they just don’t give me the desired effect. It was natural that I wanted to turn my nose up at Green Crack, but I decided to try it, nonetheless. It was then that I discovered there were sativas out there that would work for my body chemistry.

Like most sativas, the concentrate was blonde and clear, while the flower was bright green, yellow, and packed full of delicious crystals. As aforementioned, I do not often like sativas, alas this was different. Green Crack won me over.

The Herb

Green Crack gets its name because of its very strong sativa properties. It is a derivative of Skunk #1, though there is also an indica-dominant variety that comes from Afghani. You may also hear it referred to as “Green Cush”. (Yes, with a “C”.) While that is not an official name, it is often called that to try and fight the stigma associated with crack cocaine

The strain is considered rather easy to grow, and it usually gets a medium yield. It stands quite tall and takes on a sharp green color. You might see some hints of gold, especially in nuggets. It grows best if you clear some of the branches towards the bottom to allow it more circulation.

Taste & Smell

Green Crack smells both earthy and sweet. The concentrate smells quite faint, and it has slight lemon and mango undertones. The nugs smell much stronger and have a slight skunky undertone, but they smell mostly sweet. The most notable scent is mango, which is also the aftertaste.

Psychoactive Properties

Green Crack’s namesake is associated with crack cocaine, not because it is dangerous or addictive, but because it gives you a boost of energy that is not comparable to most other strains. It will make you quite alert, making it the perfect daytime strain.

Green Crack, while it can make you paranoid if you medicate too much, makes you feel happy and uplifted. If you suffer from stress, but need something to get you through the day and keep you awake, Green Crack has the properties necessary for just that.

Like a lot of sativas, Green Crack leaves the smoker feeling alert and ready to take on the day. It is the perfect strain if you are about to undertake a big project or if you have somewhere to be or something to do. You’ll be able to stay on task and stay medicated.

This strain made me feel incredibly happy, which was likely due to the extreme head high. It could be useful for treating stress and depression for this reason.

What it Treats

Green Crack has anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties, which is why it is effective treatment for anxiety and depression. Whether you are suffering from short-term anxiety or depression or if you have chronic anxiety or depression, Green Crack will likely help you without causing you to fall asleep on yourself. Consider it your daytime anti-anxiety medicine.

If you struggle waking up in the morning (or staying awake during the day), you should certainly consider medicating with Green Crack. The strain is a potent stimulant and will wake you right up so you can do all of your daily activities without experiencing that 2pm crash.

This strain is perfect for daytime pain relief. While it does not relieve pain to the same degree that some indicas would, it gets the job done and will help you stay awake during the day.

The Cons

Dry Mouth

Green Crack is notorious for causing serious cottonmouth. If this is something you experience, try sucking on some candy and drinking some water at room temperature. Stay away from alcohol or any other dry or dehydrating beverages (e.g. soda).

Dry Eye

Make sure you have some eye drops nearby if you plan on using this strain, because it can be extremely drying for your eyes. The bloodshot look is not very desirable, so combat it with some saline solution

Like many sativas, Green Crack can cause some serious nervousness. Try not to smoke it late at night and don’t flick on a horror movie if you’re prone to marijuana-related paranoia.

Would I Smoke it Again?

I would definitely try Green Crack again, though I’ve only had the opportunity to smoke it twice. The euphoric feeling is the perfect way to get rid of work stress, and the energizing properties allows me to get through the workday without starting to doze off. It effectively treated my back pain, though I wouldn’t say it worked as well as an indica or hybrid. That being said, it did a fantastic job for a sativa. I would give the strain a 4.1/5. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you like sativas.
