Death Star

The name of this hybrid excited the nerd in me the first time I heard it, but I had not had quality Death Star before I stopped at Green Dragon, a small dispensary in Edgewater, Colorado. After I finally had the opportunity to try some of the concentrate, I went back and bought three grams more. It was that good.

The Herb

Death Star takes on a vibrant green color with bright orange hairs decorating each beautiful nug. You can expect frosty, purple and silver crystals to cover the herb.

It only tends to yield 25-30 grams per plant, but each gram is another gram of happiness. It may produce a number of different phenotypes, but most are predominantly indica.

Taste & Smell

Interestingly enough, the phenotype may affect Death Star’s aromatic profile, as well as its flavor profile. It may take on more fruity notes or diesel-like notes, depending on the phenotype.

The phenotype that I was lucky enough to try was much more diesel-y, but it was also very smooth. That was true both for the PHO (propane hash oil, a close cousin of butane hash oil) and the herb.

Psychoactive Properties

Being a child strain of Sour Diesel and Sensei Star, Death Star has curative properties when it comes to anxiety. Those that suffer from stress will find this plant to have very pleasing psychoactive properties.

If you are looking for a “happy” strain, look no further. This is the strain you’re looking for.

If you are looking for something for nighttime use that will put you to sleep, Death Star will be a good option for you.

Do you often suffer from a lack of creativity? Pair this strain with a lovely cup of coffee. (I suggest something sweet to balance out the diesel flavor.)

Pain Relief

Being primarily indica, this strain has strong anti-inflammatory properties. This helps with pain.

What It Treats

With anti-anxiety properties, Death Star is one of the best indica-dominant hybrids to treat stress-related mental illness.

This strain is a natural antidepressant and will help if you suffer from depression.

Pain is one of the most common reasons that medical marijuana is prescribed. If you are looking for nighttime relief, Death Star will be perfect for you. If your body chemistry works well with indicas, it will even work during the day.

This strain will effectively treat insomnia for those that suffer from lack of sleep.

Loss of Appetite

If you struggle with loss of appetite, this strain will help you find the will to eat again.

The Cons

Dry Mouth

Keep a glass of water nearby. That is all you will need to combat the most common con this strain induces.

Dry Eyes

A few eye drops will help you deal with this harmless-yet-annoying problem associated with the strain.

Would I Smoke it Again

The most important question, of course! I would certainly smoke Death Star again. In fact, I have proven this by purchasing four entire grams of the concentrate in preparation to celebrate the unofficial Star Wars Day, which is May the 4th. From the thick diesel flavor to the strain’s pleasurable psychoactive effects, Death Star was a fantastic experience. If I had to rate it, I would say it deserves a 4.5/5.
